Although winter looms and the days continue to shorten, you can relive summer by booking tickets to the incredible Finnish Rooftop Sauna at Waterloo in central London.
The sauna phenomenon that’s sweeping Finland
This idea comes from the Finnish capital, Helsinki, where temperatures are subzero most of the time between December and February. In recent years, public saunas have become extremely popular in Finland, where winter temperatures can often dip below -30 °C in rural areas. While it clearly never gets that cold in London, for most people taking some time out in a 32 °C sauna is always a welcome respite from the cold and the damp.
About the Finnish Rooftop Sauna
From Friday 10th November to Saturday 30th December, the Finnish Rooftop Sauna will be held on the stunning Queen Elizabeth Roof Gardens above the Southbank. Relax in this unique Nordic Sauna, where an expert will introduce you to its steaming stones. Enjoy amazing views of the Thames, and order a Prosecco or a winter-warmer drink at the bar. It’s the perfect place to relax and soothe your muscles after a long day at work.
Practical information
The Finnish Rooftop Sauna will take place in the Southbank Centre from 10am and 10pm. The building is just a short walk from Waterloo tube and rail station.
Towels and secure lockers are included in the price, and each sauna session lasts for 70 minutes. That means you’ll have plenty of time to rejuvenate yourself. Just remember to drink plenty of water, and bear in mind that the secure lockers can only accommodate small bags.
