A unique culinary pop-up takes over one of our most exciting Venueseeker Black venues this month – The House of Vans.
Brought to you by peacebuilding NGO, International Alert, Conflict Cafe combines the cuisines of different conflict areas, harnessing the power of food to get people together, breaking bread, and starting a conversation.
The pop-up has now served over 1,000 diners, highlighting cuisines and conflicts from Colombia to Syria.
The next pop-up focuses on the food of Syria. Chefs from Syrian restaurant Ayam Zaman will delight with a menu including favourites like baba ghanouj and classic kibbeh, and the chance to try something perhaps not so familiar, such as hara isbah, a traditional Syrian dish of pasta with tamarind and lentils, and the delicious fattet makdous, a delicious dish from Damascus.
