1 – The Whitechapel Gallery
On Whitechapel High Street in east London, Whitechapel Gallery is one of London’s oldest publicly funded galleries, with an impressive exhibition of contemporary artwork. This venue is divided into several galleries which can accommodate anywhere from 60 to 320 guests, and is just a short walk from Aldgate East tube (District and Hammersmith & City lines).
2 – The Saatchi Gallery
One of London’s most famous art galleries, the Saatchi Gallery has a proud tradition of exhibiting work of unknown artists, and has helped many establish their careers. The venue has showcased everything from Neurotic Realism to contemporary artworks of young British artists, and can be found at the Duke of York’s Headquarters on King’s Road in Chelsea near Sloane Square tube (Circle and District lines). This Grade II-Listed building includes eleven flexible galleries which can be hired individually for private functions, or altogether for up to 1,500 guests. That means this London event venue is ideal for small, medium and large functions.
3 – The Photographers’ Gallery
Exhibiting the work of prominent photographers ranging from British fashion photographer Nick Knight to American photographer Taryn Simon, the Photographers’ Gallery is the UK’s first gallery dedicated to this discipline. On Ramillies Street in Soho, moments from Oxford Street and Oxford Circus tube (Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines), this event venue in London can be booked for 10-33 guests. Please make a reservation at least two weeks in advance.
4 – The Wallace Collection
Revered for its French art and other decorative and fine artworks spanning five centuries, the Wallace Collection’s chic galleries can be hired for 12-300 guests. These range from the Dutch Galleries with their beautiful paintings of Rembrandt, to the Back State Room dedicated to King Louis XV of France and Madame de Pompadour, his mistress. You can find the Wallace Collection in Marylebone, about a 7-minute walk from Bond Street tube (Central and Jubilee).
5 – The Serpentine Galleries
Known for their modern and contemporary artworks, the Serpentine Galleries can be found in Kensington Gardens in Hyde Park, roughly a 10-minute walk from Lancaster Gate tube (Central line). This site includes two superb galleries that are just a five-minute walk from each other and are connected via the 19th-century Serpentine Bridge over the Serpentine lake. Hire the Serpentine Gallery or the Serpentine Sackler Gallery for up to 200 standing guests (or 40 seated).
